About UICCS

The Utrecht Institute for Conflict and Crisis Simulation (UICCS) offers interactive learning experiences through crisis simulations and provides innovative insights into conflict through data analysis and academic reports. In doing so, offering an opportunity for students to develop personal skills through practical experience.

Our Activities

Creating interactive learning experiences

Games and simulations can be valuable tools for training and assessing students, lecturers, diplomats, negotiators, commanders and peacebuilders around the world. UICCS provides third parties with a conflict simulation experience. In such simulations contemporary, realistic scenarios are played out with the help of gamified elements. Thereby UICCS offers a unique academic approach to understanding conflict and crisis to a range of audiences, including students and professionals.

Data analysis and academic reports

Based on previous research, data-analysis and the findings from conducted simulations, UICCS provides insights of an academic character in the form of publications and reports. In doing so, we aim to fill the gap between the current body of academic research and the demand of real-world actors.

Developing the personal skills of students through practical experience

UICCS is a student-led institute which aims to offer fellow students a valuable learning experience. We do this, by providing them with an opportunity to produce knowledge as well as develop personal skills through practical experiences, while in the process connecting students with a valuable network of ambitious students, professionals, academics and alumni.
